“So I give you a new command: Love each other deeply and fully. Remember the ways that I have loved you, and demonstrate your love for others in those same ways. Everyone will know you as My followers if you demonstrate your love to others.”

John 13:34,35 (The Voice)

FOUND is a welcoming and inclusive Christian faith community.
We come from all walks of life.
We love our neighbour no matter what they believe.
We work towards the most good for all people.

At FOUND, we describe who we are in the context of: Our Future; What We Are For; How We Live; How We Communicate; and, What We Believe.

Our Future

We will be known by our love

God’s heart and plan is for the redemption, restoration and renewal of all things. The broken made whole. The sick healed. The poor and oppressed set free. The stranger welcomed. The outcasts restored.
The lost FOUND.

What We Are For

We Are a People of Relationship

At FOUND, relationship is pretty much everything. Relationship with God. Relationship with ourselves. Relationship with each other. Relationship with creation. Our passion and heart is that these relationships are increasingly active, healthy and growing.

We Are a People of Good News

All human beings bear the dignity of being made in God’s own image, but we Iive in a broken and vulnerable world. The good news is that God loves His creation and is restoring all things – the broken made whole, the poor and oppressed set free, the stranger welcomed, and the lost found.

We Make Room

Jesus’ prayer was that His followers would be one and united in love. Though we are different, we seek to discover and understand each other’s unique stories and shared humanity, even when it’s difficult to do so. We build community through humility, service and embracing each other’s successes and struggles. We make room for what God is doing. We make room for each other. We make room for faith and doubt, science and mystery, conversation and forgiveness.

We Join God in the Renewal of All Things

As a community, we seek to be conscious of, and partner with, God in all places through all people for the redemption of ourselves, others, and the world. Our success is measured more on our sending capacity than our seating capacity. We equip people, through the love and example of Jesus, to participate in God’s work of reconciling the world to relationship with Him.

We Are Creators and Contributors of Culture

Creativity is an expression of God’s nature, beauty and wonder in us. Rather than just being critics and consumers, we encourage people to develop and express their creativity in their vocation, as an act of worship, and to inspire good.

We Are For the Common Good

We seek the peace and prosperity of the cities we live and work in. We love our neighbour no matter what they believe. We work towards the most good for all people, recognising that God is passionate about justice for the poor and most vulnerable people in our society.

How We Live

Gather

We gather to break bread, worship, encourage and equip one another, and build community. Gathering happens over food and coffee, around big dining tables, in parks, church buildings and community centres, and through serving our community.

Grow

We grow as culture-makers, disciples, worshippers, influencers and leaders. Formation and growth occurs through prayer and devotion, worship and working, teaching and conversation, serving and community.

Give

We give of our time, gifts, and resources (out of what God has already given us) for more than ‘Sunday’. We give in an intentional, sustained, practical and strategic way that recognises and celebrates each other’s vocational gifts and passions.

Go

We go into our households, streets, workplaces, communities, and the world.

How We Communicate

Generous Conversations

In our conversations and living we embrace a posture of:

  • Humility and Grace
  • Love and Faith
  • Encouragement and Inclusion
  • Conversation and Enquiry
  • Collaboration and Unity
  • Transparency and Integrity
  • Peace and Justice

What We Believe

Statement of Faith

We’re big on what unites us as the body of Christ, rather than divides us.
FOUND is a non-denominational Christian faith community passionate about what Jesus was passionate about – His followers united in love. The Apostle’s Creed and Nicene Creed are the simplest summations of what the Church has believed from the beginning and foundational to Christians of all persuasions – conservative, progressive, Catholic and Protestant alike.
For everything else, let’s talk about it over a meal or coffee.

APOSTLE’S CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic and apostolic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
AMEN.

NICENE CREED

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
AMEN.
